MACON, Ga. — For everyone who made the New Year's resolution to read more...the Washington Memorial Library has you covered.
In honor of the library turning 100, folks can immerse themselves even more into the worlds of their favorite novels with the Books and Brews program.
The library has a list of 16 total novels to read, including The Big Sleep, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Their Eyes Were Watching God, Gone Girl, and more.
You can find a full list of novels after you register.
You can visit the Middle Georgia Regional Library Facebook Page or go to bibblib.beanstack.com to sign up.
After signing up, you can earn badges by reading the novels while sipping on some drinks that show up on the pages!
Several local breweries and cafes like Philosophie Wine Bar, Oh Honey Bakery, Hello Boba Café, Piedmont Brewery, Z Beans Coffee, JBA and more are offering beers, coffees, and cocktails to match drinks in the novels.
Marketing Coordinator Alexandria Holsey says it is a great way to engage with the text - and the community.
"We also want to foster engagement with different members of the community and different places that are surrounding Washington, so it was a way to bring people into our library and have them interacting with literature in a new way," she said.
She also said it was a great way for people to be introduced to the library and all it has to offer.
"Come out, explore your library! If you don't have a library card, you really do need one. It's the most valuable card you can carry," said Holsey.
The library will have centennial events throughout the year, ending in a final ceremony in October.
"We encourage everyone to come participate in those events," said Holsey.
October will also be the end of the Books and Brews crawl, so be sure to start reading now!
If you finish the program by October, you can win some Library Centennial swag.
