MACON, Ga. — A tapas and drink lounge in Macon is gaining popularity as a perfect date night and bruch spot.
People can "mix it up" at Marie's Lounge with a large assortment of delicious tapas, desserts, and specialty drinks.
They are known for their lambchops paired with a classic old fashioned. Their specialty cocktails are also a crowd favorite.
One of the most well known aspects of Marie's is their photo wall with swings, where you can capture memories of your night out with a backdrop of flowers and cherry blossoms.
If it's a beautiful night, you can dine outside in the fresh air on their patio, which is complete with fire pits, large screen TV's, and covered seating. They also offer cigars for you to smoke outside while you relax.
Brittnee and James Dixon own Marie's. They say the inspiration for the restaurant came from their desire to have a nice place to go out on date night.
"Our original thought was somewhere we would want to go on a date night. When we go on a date night and have some drinks we don't like to eat heavy meals, so that's where we got the small plate tapas idea from," Brittnee said.
Their tapas menu is well curated and includes some well portioned sizes for if you want to share or order just for yourself.
They also have a large drink menu. Some of their most popular drinks include the apple crisp cocktail, the Marie's classic old fashioned, the H20 that comes with rock candy, and the honeybee.
The Dixons say even though some people don't know about Marie's, others come from all over Central Georgia to dine with them.
"We've been here a year, and we're still hearing that a lot of people didn't even know we were here, like we're a hidden gem. We have some people coming from Fort Valley and Milledgeville just to come have their date nights with us, so we really wanted to let everyone know that we were here and for everyone to experience us," they said.
They went on to say their dining experience is a unique one in the Macon community,
"I absolutely think that Marie's is a breath of fresh air. I think we cater anywhere from the 22-55 year old crowd, and it's just a different choice that you have in Macon," Brittnee said.
