PERRY, Ga. — When you think of the Georgia National Fair, you likely think of carnival rides, fun-filled shows and, of course, good-ole' American fair food.
On that last point, the Georgia National Fair has announced which vendors will appear this year at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter in Perry. Plus, they unveiled some of the unique creations for the 2024 Fair Food Fight!
While the event is still over 50 days away, here's a sneak peek at some of the fair food that will appear at the Georgia National Fair this year.
Abracadabra Funnel Cake: The Best Around Inc.
One vendor, The Best Around Inc., is turning a fair food classic — the funnel cake — into something special. Introducing the "Abracadabra Funnel Cake."
According to the fair's website, this dish takes funnel cake and adds cotton candy icing and "magical" popping rocks, creating a color explosion on your plate.
Peaches and Cream Biscuits: Biscuit Barn
At a celebration of all things Georgia, there's one thing for sure: they'll be some peaches on the menu.
And at the Biscuit Barn, they're taking classic southern biscuits and topping them off with peaches and a healthy drizzle of sweet cream.
The Biscuit Barn's "Peaches and Cream Biscuit" will be on the menu at the 2024 Georgia National Fair. It's a taste of Peach State!
La Pina Mexicana: McGrotha Foods
McGortha Foods is serving a drink with a taste of sweet pineapple goodness: La Pina Mexicana.
They say their dish will feature swirls of Pineapple Dole "accentuated" by spicy Tajine, fruity Chamoy and a "tangy Tamarind straw."
"A Mexican heat. A southern sweet. A flavor explosion for your mouth," the Georgia National Fair says on its website.
Pimento Cheese Cinnamon Roll: Scirrotto Cinnamon City
Scirrotto Cinnamon City is serving a southern twist on the Cinnamon Roll: the Pimento Cheese Cinnamon Roll.
They say it builds on the sweet cinnamon roll and adds the tang of pimento cheese. It also features a major Georgia agricultural product, the pecan.
They say it is "a spicy twist for those who dare to explore."
Magical Cherry Cheesecake Donuts: The Donut Family
Who doesn't love donuts?!?! And at the "Donut Family", they'll be serving up donuts with a little bit of added flair: cheesecake and cherry topping.
With a base of mini donuts, their "Magical Cherry Cheesecake Donuts" adds cheesecake and cherry topping with a dusting of graham cracker crust. Then, to top it off, they'll have a scoop of vanilla bean whipped cream, which they say is "award-winning."
Magical Maryland Crabcakes: Big G's Food Service
While Maryland is hundreds of miles away from the fairgrounds, Big G's Food Service is bringing Maryland Crabcakes to the fairgrounds.
Made out of "fresh off the boat lump crab," Big G's adds their special seafood seasoning and they're cooking the crab cake to golden brown. Then, it is served alongside their house remoulade sauce.
Golden Teriyaki Chicken Fries: Meester Mikes
At Meester Mikes, they're serving up Golden Teriyaki Chicken Fries. This features deep fried chicken fries with what they promise is "a tangy Teriyaki Twist!"
The Melted Memory: Rocker's Roost Restaurant
Another quintessential part of the fair is the slew of fried food options on the menu. And at Rocker's Roost Restaurant, they are serving up grilled cheese — but with a deep-fried twist.
They're taking a grilled cheese and then battering and frying it. Who knows? Maybe the "Melted Memory" could be the next fair food staple?
When Pickled Pigs Fly: Gillette's Pizza:
At Gillette's Pizza and Lemonade, they are putting together a pizza with a unique set of flavors and an interesting name: introducing the "When Pickled Pigs Fly" pizza.
This culinary creation is a pizza with a ranch base, mozzarella cheese, kosher dill pickles and a healthy serving of Bacon to finish things off.
"Gillette's famous Pickle Pizza taken up a notch!" they say.
Pretzell Brat: Sattler's Concession
Bratwurst meets Pretzell? That's what Sattler's Concession is preparing.
They say this "culinary delight... marries the heartiness of a traditional bratwurst all wrapped up in a golden soft pretzel."
Cosmic Brownie Funnel Cake: Paulette's Food Service
With the place funnel cake has in the world of fair food, another vendor this year is offering a funnel cake that — depending on how old you are — may evoke your days in the school lunch room.
Paulette's Food Serving is serving up a "Cosmic Brownie Funnel Cake" as their entry into the 2024 Fair Food Fight.
This creation is your classic funnel cake topped with powdered sugar, rainbow candy pieces along with fudge brownie pieces
Cheeseburger in FAIRadise Quessadilla: The Fiesta Grill
Down at the Feiesta Grill, they are serving the "Cheeseburger in FAIRadise Quesadilla."
Evoking the Jimmy Buffett song, this quesadilla features hamburger meat, onion, tomato, cheese along with a "special sauce."
Who knows, could it "be worth every dang bit of sacrifice?"
Corn Gobbler: Cox Concessions
Do you like turkey legs? Do you like corn dogs?
Well, Cox Concessions is taking the classic fried turkey leg and dipping it in corn dog batter and frying it, creating a new take on two fair food classics.
CBR: Hot Wisconsin Cheese
Meet the CBR: Curd, Bacon, Ranch.
These loaded cheese curds are topped with bacon and a ranch dressing.
It's a taste of Wisconsin here in Central Georgia!
S'More Magic Ice Cream Sandwich: Polar Bear Ice Cream
Polar Bear Ice Cream is offering a new twist on the ice cream sandwich at this year's Georgia National Fair. They say this features Graham Central Ice Cream, chocolate wafer and graham crackers. Plus, it is dipped, rolled and covered in "the traditional elements of a s'more."
What else is on the menu?
With roughly 25 entrants into the Fair Fight, there is quite a lot on the menu. That's on top of the other vendors who are selling at the fair but are not taking part in the Fair Food Fight.
But on top of the "Peaches & Cream" biscuit, the Pizza Emporium is serving a "Georgia Peach Pizza" and Keys Koncessions is serving the "Peach Potion Number 35."
Another funnel cake is channeling the fall vibes with its Pumpkin Spice Funnel Cake. That can be found at Egbert Concessions.
