BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — A north Georgia animal rescue is devastated after a fire sparked and engulfed the facility.
The fire happened on Tuesday at the Southern Journey Animal Rescue & Transport off Butternut Cove in Blairsville, Georgia.
Video of the fire shows massive flames after the fire spread to two outside buildings.
"We rushed and got every animal to safety as you could feel the heat on your back. All we could think about was saving the animals," Southern Journey Animal Rescue officials said.
While the animals were safely rescued, the animal shelter said it lost all of its supplies.
"We lost everything that we had for the animals. All of our crates, bowls, dog beds, kuranda beds, kennels, pens and so much more we haven't even thought about yet!" officials wrote in the social media post.
Southern Journey Animal Rescue also said the flames melted its brand-new van and it's now inoperable.
"We have no way of doing transports at this time so we are devastated and just can't believe this happened," officials added.
The animal rescue also said it had homeowner insurance but no business insurance to cover the expenses.
"We desperately need your help to recover from this massive loss of thousands and thousands of dollars of equipment to save animals," the animal rescue added.
An online fundraiser has been set up to help raise money for the animal rescue and supplies.
