Ding dong ditch suspect making rounds in Canton, sheriff's office jokes

The deer galloped off after being startled by the doorbell, it appears.

CANTON, Ga. — There's a ding dong ditch suspect running wild in Canton, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday.

The horned, four-legged suspect was caught on a deputy's doorbell camera. A deputy shared the video with the sheriff's office, showing a deer walking up to the camera.

Curious about the plants near the roofed walkway, the deer noticed the camera and stared it down before. Seconds later, its ears twitch and the startled deer frantically gallops away. Video shows the animal round the corner and leaps away from the home, likely spooked by the doorbell camera.

People poked fun at the video online.

"He was trying to report an attempted assault," commenter Ryan Yeaton wrote, "there was a man with a rifle and orange vest that came after him in the woods."

Others mentioned it was a holiday visit.

"Maybe Santa sent him to see if the deputy has been naughty or nice," Sherry Lea Smith said.

"He was late to trick-or-treating!" Andrea Santamaria wrote.
