MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Tasha Harris teaches 7th grade here at Oak Hill Middle School. This is actually only her second year teaching there, but her experience and bond with her students is something special.
Along with teaching them about mathematics and preparing them for the world outside, Harris says she loves her kids and all the personalities they bring to her classroom. Her kids are so grateful for all the work and time she puts into them—especially Weston Goldsby, who wrote in to nominate Mrs. Harris for this honor.
"I'd like to nominate my teacher, Mrs. Tasha Harris; Mrs. Harris has been a huge supporter, and even more so, she encourages me to be the best I can be every day. Not only to me but to all of her students. She is so deserving of this honor." Those were the exact sentiments Weston shared in his letter to 13WMAZ about his amazing teacher!
Harris says she loves teaching 7th grade specifically because it is a pivotal point in kids' lives. She looks to be a role model for her students and bring positive change to the community through education.
