Dublin mom gets book published in late son's memory

Almost a year ago we introduced you to Anita Hill and shared her journey of getting a book published in her late son's memory.

MACON, Ga. — You might remember almost a year ago, we introduced you to Anita Hill, who went on a mission to get a book published in her late son's memory.

We have a great update to that story; the book is now available for you to buy.

This month, Anita spoke with us at the station about accomplishing her son's dream.

"During my writing, the Lord came to talk to mother and grandmother, but I wanted to talk to the mothers who have a similar situation and have suffered the loss of a child or children," Anita Hill read aloud.

When we met back up with Hill, her face glowed with joy while reading the book she published for her son "Able to Kill Cain."

Last year, she told us about the book Franklin wrote that initially explored his relationship with his brother but turned into his experience with diabetes.

"It doesn't make sense to you when God's pan is rough," Hill read aloud from her son's book.

Since we last spoke, Hill has hit the ground running to get the financial support to publish the book.

"Things had to be uploaded, critiqued, taken out, added to. I was getting frustrated. I was like ok, I'm about to just throw in the towel because it was a bit much, but I hung in there," Hill said.

Determined, Hill did not throw in the towel; instead, she powered through roadblocks that tried to slow her down.

"We targeted his death-a-versary, which was Feb 11, 2018, and that Tuesday before his death-a-versary, we were able to solidify a date, it was published, and here we are at this moment," Hill said.

Hill's story shows that a mother's work is never indeed done, and now she is a guardian angel smiling down even brighter on her for finishing his last earthly assignment.
