When fair food comes up you may think of funnel cakes, turkey legs or corn dogs.
But there are plenty of food competitions where you can win ribbons.
13WMAZ's Suzanne Lawler judged the pies and cheesecakes Friday morning.
Fair coordinator Rhonda Hitch says entries are down this year, yet there is still time to enter and impress your friends.
"You get in and take a recipe and you just break it down, change it and then its yours then and its just a lot of fun to come out and meet all the people and the money's not bad, Hitch explained. And the people are nice, and you get one blue ribbon. And nobody can tell you you're a bad cook."
Hitch says you can register beforehand or just show up at the receiving time for the specific competition with your dish and detailed recipe in hand.
