Rock musician Wayne Static of the band Static-X has died, according to a statement on his Facebook page. He was 48.

Static, whose real name was Wayne Richard Wells, was best known as the front man and guitarist of the band Static-X. That band released six albums between 1999 and 2009. The band's 1999 album, Wisconsin Death Trip, was certified platinum for 1 million units shipped, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.

Static also released a solo album, Pighammer, in 2013, and was scheduled to release another later this year.

He was scheduled to tour later this year, according to his website. He was set to play in Atlanta on Nov. 21, according to his website.

Details as to the cause of death were not immediately available.
