ST. LOUIS — Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan were flying out of St Louis heading to "duck camp." That's when their flight started to show signs of trouble.
"Because our plane, we thought was going to fall out of the sky," Aldean said.
Aldean, country star and a Windsor Academy graduate from Macon, and Bryan instead got a rental car and released a video on Instagram last Friday showing the pair going on the spontaneous road trip.
Their plane was grounded due to the severe cold striking much of the United States, Bryan said. They said they went duck hunting that morning and then flew to St. Louis to perform a concert.
"We were supposed to get back on the plane, fly back," Aldean said. "It was supposed to be a 30-minute flight, easy easy."
However, it didn't pan out that way.
It was 16 degrees with wind gusts of around 40 mph, Bryan said.
When they took off, they described a "tense" situation when the cold caused their plane's instruments to fail, Bryan said.
"We had to turn around and land," Bryan said.
They were driving down I-55 and the video started with the country music legends making a stop at Dairy Queen.
And if you're curious what they ordered: Aldean ordered a regular cheeseburger with cheese and pickles along with fries and a coke plus a six-piece chicken strip basket. Bryan got a number 1 combo with a Coke.
"It'll be an hour and a half drive now if Dairy Queen would hurry up," Bryan said.
