What summer camps are available for Central Georgia students? | STEM, sports, school camps

With schools out for summer, many camps are opening their doors offering fun, athletic competition, learning and so much more. Here's a look at some local camps.

MACON, Ga. — If your son, daughter or grandkid is telling you they're bored this summer, there may be a solution: Summer camp!

Across Central Georgia, there are many summer camps that students of all interests can take part in.

To help, we've assembled a list of events in Central Georgia that you can sign up for. 

Ranging from sports to STEM to faith-based activities, here's a taste of some of the summer camps available in Central Georgia. 

Kidcam Camp at Middle Georgia State University 

When: May 26 to July 26 

Location: 100 University Pkwy, Macon, GA 31206

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

Cost: $170 per week, $153 for siblings 

The day camp offers recreational activities for kids ages 5-13. Campers will be able to enjoy sports, STEM and arts programs and MGA’s Recreation and Wellness Center. 

Other activities include talent shows, counselor competitions, special performances and more. The 2024 sessions are following a decades-themed week for the summer to celebrate Kidcam Camps’s 50 year anniversary. More information can be found, including how to register, here.

Naturally Nurtured Nature Camp 

When: weekly from May 27 to the week of Aug. 19 

Location: 7436 Thomaston Road, Macon, GA, USA 

Cost: Starting at $225

The program offers a nature-based experience for kids ages 3-14. Camp runs Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. More information and registration are available here.

TRINITY WOODS SUMMER CAMP 

Location: 1899 Tucker Road, Macon, GA 31220 

When: Week of May 28 to July 29

Trinity Woods Summer Camp is a Christian-based summer camp hosted by The Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity in Macon. The camp has 10 sessions running from the week of May 28 to July 29. The program is from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The camp is for kids ages 5 to 13 for outdoor summer fun in the Trinity Woods and Creek. Registration for sessions is available here.

Camp Eagle 

Location: Stratford Academy 6010 Peake Rd Macon, Georgia 31220 

When: the week of June 3 to the week of July 15

Cost: $135 to $175

Stratford Academy is hosting several summer camps. Camp Eagle offers programs in fine arts, academics, athletics and cheerleading. The camp is available to kids from preschool through 12th grade. More information is available here.

MERCER SUMMER CAMPS

Location: 1501 Mercer University Drive

When: June through July

Cost: Varies from program to program

Mercer University Athletics is hosting a wide variety of summer camps for young athletes in the area. The camp programs vary from day camp to overnight and include baseball, volleyball, soccer and more. Camps start in June and continue into July. The athletic departments of each sport will be running camp sessions for different ages, genders, and skill levels. More details about registration and each camp session is available here.

Middle Georgia State Summer Camps

Location: 100 University Pkwy, Macon, GA 31206

When: Sessions take place in June and July, for kids from 1st to 12th grade

Cost: Program cost varies, roughly $5 to $95

The university offers summer camps for kids interested in athletics and STEM. The camp sessions are being hosted at MGA's campuses in Macon, Warner Robins and Cochran. Details on each session can be found here.

Museum of Aviation Camp 

Location: 1942 Heritage Blvd, Robins AFB, GA 31098 

When: Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 

Cost: $138 a week

The Museum of Aviation is hosting a STEM summer camp for children between kindergarten through 10th grade. The camp runs weekly from June 3 until July 15. Schedule and registration are available here.

CAMP WILD AND OUT 

When: July 1- 4 

Location: 281 Hope Entrance Road, Fort Valley, GA 31030 

Cost: $300 for the week

Camp Wild and Out is a week-long residential camp for those ages 10-15. The camp program hopes to instill an appreciation for nature conservation and wildlife appreciation in its campers. More details are available here.
