With the Main Street Christmas Light Show Extravaganza shining through downtown, Taste and See coffee shop says the foot traffic from the lights moves directly into their store.
"When it gets to the weekend, we are prepared for it to be crazy. The first night it was out the door, a line of people just waiting," said employee Tori Byars.
Employees at Taste and See say the lights and other Christmas festivities happening downtown during the month of December brings in more customers than any other time of the year.
"It's gotten our name out there more than it ever has been. I know that there are people that come in, and they're like I've never even been here, I wouldn't have known about it if I hadn't come to see the lights," Byars said.
A few store fronts down the street, Decadent Desserts Owner, Patrick Polowichak, agrees, the lights bring in new faces.
"Picking up a lot of traffic from that helped put Decadent on the map, a lot of people learned who we are, what we do here," Polowichak said.
Decadent and Taste and See stayed open several hours past their usual closing time while the lights beamed through downtown.
"It was extremely worth staying open that extra three hours on Sunday," Polowichak said.
While the lights help with business around the holidays, Polowichak says Decadent is hoping the customers will pour in through the new year.
"Bringing people downtown is important, it helps businesses survive better with the different clientele coming in to visit us, besides the folks that live in Macon," Polowichak said.
As the holiday spirit carries through New Year's Day, Decadent and Taste and See plan to continue with some extended hours.
The Main Street Christmas Light Show Extravaganza will stay up downtown until January 4th.
