MACON, Ga. — It's time to start thinking about what dish you're bringing home for Thanksgiving.
Don't worry Helms Culinary Instructor and Chef Lynae Radke returned back to the 13WMAZ to make Maple roasted carrots that you can bring to impress people at your Thanksgiving table.
The ingredients list is below:
Ingredients
- 2 lbs carrots (you can use baby carrots with tops or regular carrots cut into your desired size)
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 tablespoons maple syrup
For the Garnish:
- Dried cranberries
- Crumbled goat cheese
- Chopped parsley
- Chopped candied pecans
Instructions:
1. Preheating your oven to 450°F.
2. While the oven heats up, chop the parsley and set it aside for garnish. Then, prepare your carrots by cutting them down to your preferred size.
3. : In a large bowl, toss the carrots with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Don't be afraid to season generously; the salt will help balance the sweetness of the maple syrup.
4. Spread the seasoned carrots out on a sheet pan, making sure they are in a single layer. Roast them in the oven for about 8 to 10 minutes, or until they are soft yet still retain some texture. The exact cooking time may vary based on your oven.
5. Once the carrots are roasted, remove them from the oven and drizzle with maple syrup. Toss the carrots gently to ensure they are evenly coated.
6. Return the coated carrots to the oven for an additional 2 minutes. This final step helps caramelize the maple syrup, creating a flavorful glaze on the carrots.
7. Once done, take the carrots out of the oven and let them cool slightly. Then, transfer them to a platter for serving.
8. For an added touch of flavor and visual appeal, top your roasted carrots with dried cranberries, crumbled goat cheese, chopped parsley, and chopped candied pecans.
