'Get you some binoculars, have fun with it': Sasquatch Scavenger hunt comes to downtown Milledgeville

There are 10 little bigfoot plushies hidden across 10 downtown Milledgeville businesses and it's first come first served!

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — People in Milledgeville can get a taste of the wild outdoors during a Sasquatch Scavenger Hunt.

January can be a slower month for many local businesses, so Main Street Milledgeville wants to help get more people through their doors. There are 10 little bigfoot plushies hidden across 10 downtown businesses and it's first come first served!

When you find one, you can keep it.

"The community is able to come in and search downtown for Milly's Bigfoot Billy and they are going to hide them well, we hope, the point is to have everybody come and search and explore and see our downtown and see what we have to offer," event coordinator for Main Street Milledgeville Amanda Greene said.

The plushie is also your ticket to meet Milly's Bigfoot Billy on February First Friday: Food and Flannel. You can get a few other goodies too during the event.

"What a better way to bring about a mountain theme than to add a Sasquatch," Greene said.

Participating businesses include:

  • Southern Roots
  • The Ript Zone
  • Amici
  • Oconee Outfitters
  • Buffington’s
  • Blackbird Coffee
  • CoraL’s Closets
  • Jimmy John’s
  • Miso Hawngry
  • The Market Collective

The scavenger hunt is also helping get the community excited about February First Friday. During the event, there will be chainsaw carving, firepits, music and around 10 food trucks.

Of course, Billy Bigfoot will also be stomping around town.

Greene says if you're headed downtown to search for a little bigfoot, she suggests trying to get into the mountain spirit.

"I don't know, grab you a toboggan, get in the element, get you some binoculars, have fun with it, do some hashtags. You know good luck. I hope they get found — that's the point of it," she said.

The hunt begins on Saturday and goes through Jan. 27. You can find out more information by checking the Main Street Milledgeville Facebook page.
