MACON, Ga. — Naomi Washington joined the 13WMAZ team in July 2024 as a Multi-Skilled Journalist.
Naomi calls Burlington, New Jersey home, and the Peach State will be the fifth one she’s lived in! Her passion for journalism started when she began writing for her high school’s newspaper, The Raider Review.
Naomi is a proud graduate of Elon University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in religious studies. She served as a multimedia reporter for four years at Elon News Network, Elon’s on-campus, student-run newsroom.
Her most memorable achievement from her time at ENN was winning a 2024 Associated College Press first-place award for Best Diversity, Equity and Inclusion reporting for her story about Elon University’s Black history.
While in college, Naomi interned at NBC News National three times as the general assignment intern in the Washington, D.C. bureau and as a production intern for “NBC News Live with Morgan Radford and Vicky Nguyen,” and “Hallie Jackson NOW.” She also traveled to Kyoto, Japan for a reporting opportunity in her senior year.
In her free time, Naomi enjoys traveling, spending time with family and trying new food places.
Her first beat is education with a focus on Bibb and Houston counties. She is excited to talk to people from all over Central Georgia and share their stories.
