MACON, Ga. — Maggie Fitzgerald is a Multi-Skilled Journalist at 13WMAZ.

Maggie joined the 13WMAZ team in June 2024 as a Multi-Skilled Journalist. Her beat assignment is the Macon-Bibb County Commission, with a focus on evolving stories, government announcements, and breaking news.

She is a South Jersey native and grew up right outside of Philadelphia. Maggie is a proud graduate from Temple University's Klein College of Media and Communication with a degree in broadcast journalism.

In Philly, Maggie concentrated her efforts in mastering skills both in front and behind the camera as an award-winning producer, anchor and reporter for TUTV, the top collegiate TV station in the country as named by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System

During her time at TUTV, Maggie extensively covered crime and major events ranging from home invasions to the death of a beloved university president. Her hands-on experience at Temple led to internship opportunities at 6abc Action News, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and CBS Philadelphia.

Maggie has been recognized for her work through various awards at Temple, receiving the Jessica Savitch Broadcast Journalism Award in 2022 and the 2024 Jim Gardner Journalism Prize. She was a 2023 finalist in the CBI National Student Production Awards and received the Temple’s prestigious Diamond Award, the highest recognition given to an undergraduate student. Maggie was also honored to address the Klein College Class of 2024 as commencement speaker.

When she is not reporting, Maggie likes to stay active, explore new restaurants, cheer on her Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, volunteer for the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, and spend time with loved ones (especially her golden retriever, Murphy!)
