MACON, Ga. — Karmen Brown joined the 13WMAZ team in June 2024 as a Multi-Skilled Journalist.
She graduated in May of 2024 from Texas Tech University, where she studied journalism with a concentration in literature, social issues and education. Her most memorable college accomplishment was being selected for ‘Tech 10’, an honor recognizing 10 top graduates in the class of 2024.
Though she is a Texas native, born and raised, Karmen is no stranger to the Peach State. She previously interned for NBC affiliate 11Alive in Atlanta, Georgia. There she had the chance to take part in the production of one of the largest 10k races, The AJC Peachtree Road Race.
Karmen has always had a passion for telling stories. In high school, she assisted the communications department in creating visuals and producing content for the Little Elm ISD. In college, she reported for MCTV, her university’s weekly newscast. In September 2023, Karmen had her first exclusive interview with Dr. Anita Hill.
She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Throughout her tenure as an undergrad she served in many executive positions within her chapter, holding the president, vice president and social media chair seat. In her free time, Karmen enjoys watching her favorite tv shows, spending time with family and thrifting.
