Hunter King is a multi-skilled journalist at 13WMAZ

MACON, Ga. — Hunter King joined the team as a multi-skilled journalist at 13WMAZ in June 2024.

Hunter graduated with a mass communication degree with a focus in multiplatform journalism at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.

Hunter studied at Lone Star College before transferring to the Dan Rather School of Communications in the fall of 2022.

His professional experience includes a two-year tenure at Bearkat Student Media News on the campus of Sam Houston State University. In the role of anchor and reporter, he contributed significantly to the news station by creating news packages and anchoring student-run newscasts.

Adding to this experience, he completed a three-month internship at KPRC 2 News, an NBC station based in Houston, Texas. As a reporting intern, he conducted interviews, wrote stories for both digital and broadcast platforms and edited packages.

Recognition has followed his outstanding work, including winning the “Best Soft TV News Package” at the Heatwave Film Festival in 2023. He was also nominated for “Best TV News Anchor” and “Best Sports Anchor” at the same festival. In 2024, at the same festival, he won “Best News Story,” “Best News Anchor” and “Best Sports Anchor.”

He interviewed the Director of the U.S. Census Bureau for an episode of “Dateline Democracy” which received a Telly Award.

Hunter is from Houston, Texas, and lived there until his move to Macon. He strives to one day report the news back in his hometown of Houston.
