Once homeless Bonaire man moves into new home with help from 'adopted' family

Months after we first told you the story of a Bonaire family that 'adopted' an elderly homeless man, there is an exciting update.

Back in January, we told you the story of a Bonaire family that ‘adopted’ an elderly homeless man, John Knight, that they now call PaPa.

Michelle Gowan says he came into a laundromat where they were doing their Loads of Love charity and through that relationship, he went from sleeping in his car to a motel to a boarding house.

Gowan’s family decided to move him into Magnolia Manor and with some helps from donations, they got all the furniture for him that they needed.

Knight says the serve meals that are ‘better than Golden Corral’ and Gowan says he told her that he is ‘living the dream and he has smiled more since moving in Saturday than he has in 79 years.’

She concluded her post by saying:

I believe that contentment is not getting everything we want, but the realization that we already have everything we need. Happiness begins with a grateful heart.

I am grateful for every act of kindness for him from friends and strangers. His journey was designed to teach me.
