Man dead after drowning in pool in Houston County

The victim was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

ELKO, Ga. — A man is dead after drowning in a pool on Sunday afternoon, according to Houston County Coroner James Williams. 

He says it happened around 3:45 p.m. at a swimming pool in the 2400 block of Elko Road.

Williams identified the man as 27-year-old Ariel Jones of Columbus, Ohio.

Jones was pulled from the pool by first responders and taken by ambulance to Houston Healthcare in Perry.

He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Williams says there is no further information available at this time.
