Float Daze organizes river clean up at Amerson River Park

The river tubing company regularly puts together river cleanups along the Ocmulgee

Water tubing company Float Daze made some interesting discoveries while trying to clean up the trails at Amerson River Park on Sunday.

They found hundreds of glass milk bottles, Coca-Cola bottles, old TVs and even an old park sign.

Joseph Dorough, who just turned 7-years-old, says his mom and dad brought him out to help pick up some of the heavy stuff.

He worked hard at getting the trails clean because he says he loves going to the park and having a clean river to float on.

"We like to swim a lot out here too. We have a lot of fun. We even have a camping spot up there at the sand bar," said Dorough.

President of Float Daze Robert Jackson says they expected to cover more area, but got hung up on one area.

Even so, he says they managed to pick up over 200 pounds of waste.

Float Daze has organized river clean ups in the past, and Jackson says he wants to plan the next one in January.
