Bibb County may hold Sunday voting hours on Oct. 28

People in Bibb County can vote in the governor's race on a Sunday this fall if the county approves money to pay for it

Voters in Bibb County may be able to hit the polls on one Sunday this fall if commissioners approve payment.

The Bibb County Board of Elections voted Thursday to schedule early voting on Sunday, Oct. 28.

The hours would be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at their officers at 2525 Pio Nono Ave.

They say that will depend on county commissioners putting up money to cover their costs for the day.

Elections supervisor Jeanetta Watson estimates that would be $4,000 to $5,000.

The board approved the Sunday hours by a 3-1 vote. Watson said vice chairman Henry Ficklin and member Cassandra Powell, both Democrats, and Mike Kaplan, an at-large member, voted yes. Chairwoman Rinda Wilson, a Republican, voted no.

The voting would happen on the same weekend as statewide Saturday early voting, scheduled for Oct. 27. That is also scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
