Valmiera Glass plant in Dublin closes unexpectedly

Workers were notified that they would be laid off immediately

DUBLIN, Ga. — Workers at the Valmiera Glass plant in Dublin were notified Monday that the plant would be unexpectedly closing immediately.

According to a separation notice obtained by 13WMAZ, the corporation has suffered a financial downturn and loss of revenue.

The letter states, ‘For this reason, Valmiera Glass USA Corp. Dublin Phase II plant will be closing as of today.’

The letter concludes by notifying employees they’ve been laid off.

When 13WMAZ tried to reach out to Human Resources Manager Crystal Wilson about how many people would be affected by the closure, she answered and then hung up once we identified ourselves as a news organization.

She then followed that up with an email stating she would reach back out to us with a statement later.

Based on previous reporting about hiring, 13WMAZ estimates that this move leaves at least 400 people without jobs.
